interview
Russia: a plethora of tastes
An exclusive interview with Victor Mora Marin,
a Regional Manager with the Spanish company
Porcelanosa, which manufacturers a comprehensive
range of bathroom and spa products
Garden collection
How important is the Russian and
CIS market for your company?
It’s more and more important every
year. It’s a growing market. We manufacture
some products that take
into account the Russian market.
How do Russian and European
tastes differ?
I wouldn’t say there is one Russian
taste. There are many Russian
tastes, even if you consider Moscow
and Russia one market, which it is
not exactly. It depends on the level
of products customers are looking
at. There is a general assumption
that Russians like luxury, but they
also understand minimalism well.
It depends on the kind of customer.
They can have the same tastes
as our customers in Australia, or in
South America or in China. If you
have a good product it is universal.
We try to keep our style with little
concessions to each market.
How do you promote your
products in Russia?
We participate in MosBuild, which
is a unique opportunity to show
our products to many professionals.
Nowadays, MosBuild is one of
the three main exhibitions in the
world in which we take part.
What are this season’s trends?
We are using more and more ‘open’
collections that you can combine
differently and where you can play
with volumes and with combinations
of different surfaces. This is
helped by the use of new technologies
and new materials in products
like bath tubs. For instance, KRION
is one composite material that we
are producing ourselves and which
allows you to have new shapes and
new sizes in combination with different
surfaces.
