Introductory Riding/Horsemanship<br />

Adults with little or no riding experience will<br />

learn basic horse care and riding techniques,<br />

mounted and un-mounted, as well as safety,<br />

equipment, nutrition, and basic needs of<br />

horses. Learn correct positioning, stopping<br />

and steering while on a horse in a riding<br />

arena. Become familiar with the barn and<br />

the horses in the first class. Wear long pants<br />

and boots with low heels. Paddock boots can<br />

be purchased at any riding shop. Equestrian<br />

helmets are provided if needed. Must complete<br />

a riding agreement before the first class;<br />

properly bandage, lunge, and even set up a<br />

beginner level jump course! Students will learn<br />

balance and structure of horse while riding and<br />

how their body affects horse movement. Wear<br />

long pants and boots with low heels. Purchase<br />

paddock boots at any riding shop. Equestrian<br />

helmets are provided if needed. In the first<br />

class you will become familiar with the barn<br />

and the horses. Prerequisites: Must be able<br />

to stop, steer and control a horse safely while<br />

keeping body balanced on horse. Minimum 3<br />

years recent riding experience. Must complete<br />

Boating Safety NEW<br />

All PWC/Jetski operators and children ages<br />

10-17 are required to complete a boating<br />

safety course. Also, effective Nov. 6, 2013,<br />

all residents of <strong>Suffolk</strong> County who operate<br />

any pleasure vessel in <strong>Suffolk</strong> County must<br />

hold a boating safety certificate as well. This<br />

8-hour NYS course, offered by Safe Boating<br />

America, satisfies these requirements and<br />

those for NYS residents boating into New<br />

Jersey and Connecticut. Taught by US Coast<br />

Guard Licensed Captains and State-Certified<br />
