PART C – INTERNATIONAL POSTAL SERVICES<br />

PRELIMINARY<br />

45 Interpretation<br />

45.1 A word or expression used in this Part shall, unless the contrary intention appears<br />

herein or in the dictionary hereto, have the same meaning as in the Universal <strong>Post</strong>al<br />

Union's Universal <strong>Post</strong>al Convention.<br />

45.2 For the purposes of this Part, a place in an external Territory shall be deemed not to<br />

be a place outside <strong>Australia</strong>.<br />

46 Applicability of these <strong>Terms</strong> and <strong>Conditions</strong> to overseas mail<br />

46.1 The provisions of this Part shall apply to:<br />

46.1.1 articles lodged in <strong>Australia</strong> for carriage to a place outside <strong>Australia</strong>; and<br />

46.1.2 articles received in <strong>Australia</strong> from a place outside <strong>Australia</strong> for delivery in<br />

<strong>Australia</strong>,<br />

except to the extent that those provisions are inconsistent with a provision of any<br />

convention that impose obligations on <strong>Australia</strong> in relation to matters within the<br />

functions of <strong>Australia</strong> <strong>Post</strong> or have been adopted by <strong>Australia</strong> in pursuance of that<br />

convention.<br />

47 Customs documentation<br />

47.1 All articles lodged for international carriage or carriage to an external territory shall<br />

be accompanied by the appropriate customs documentation.<br />

47.2 Where any law, including any act, regulation or direction, applies to the carriage of<br />

international articles, <strong>Australia</strong> <strong>Post</strong> may treat any article covered under clause 47.1<br />

as if that law applies to the carriage of that article.<br />

48 Availability of services<br />

48.1 The availability of a category of service to a particular place shall be contingent on<br />

arrangements made between <strong>Australia</strong> <strong>Post</strong> and the postal administration of that<br />

place.<br />
