1 - 10 Corkish - Diirect Family History, Volume IV 1.10.7 Thomas Corkish (2084) was baptized on the 6th of March, 1825, at Rushen. He married Margaret Kinrade (see Volume III, 3.27.1) circa 1852 though the record has not yet been found. See 1.28 for details of his descendants. In 1841 he was working on the farm of Richard Kneen at Cross–e–Callig, Rushen. By 1851 he had moved to the north of the Island and was working on the farm of William Christian at Ballamilligan, Bride. In 1861 the family was living in Bride and Thomas was still working as a farm labourer. In 1871 the family were living at Kerroo Dhoo, Bride. Sometime after the census the family moved to England for in 1881 Thomas was living at Overend, Hensingham, Cumberland. He was a widower and his daughter, Ann, was living with him. 1.10.8 Richard Corkish (2097) was baptized on the 29th of March, 1829, at Rushen. He eventually moved to Bride. In 1841 he was living at home. 1.11.2 Richard Corkish (2227) was baptized on the 27th of May, 1838, at Rushen. In 1841 he was living at home. In 1851 he was living with his parents in Church Road, Malew. 1.11.3 John Corkish (2228) was baptized on the 19th of December, 1841, at Rushen. He appears to have married Mary Ann …ca 1880, probably in England. In 1851 he was living with his parents in Church Road, Malew. In 1861 he was living, unmarried, with his widowed mother at Castletown. He appears to have left the Island for he has not been found in the 1871 census. By 1881 he is once more on the Island when he was living at 10, New Bond Street, Douglas, with his wife and and six months old daughter. He is described as an hotel keeper in the census and as an inn keeper in the trade directory. His daughter, Mary Ann, was born in October/November 1880 in Douglas. He has not been found in the 1891 census. 1.11.3.1 Mary Ann (corkish) (3744) was born circa 1839 in England. She married John Corkish circa 1880, probably in England. Mary Ann Corkish (3745) was born in October/November, 1880, at Douglas. She appears in the 1881 census for 10, New Bond Street, with her parents. No further details are available. 1.11.4 Isabella Corkish (2229) was baptized on the 6th of October, 1844, at Rushen. In 1851 she was living with her parents in Church Road, Malew. Family History, Volume IV Corkish - Direct 1 - 11 1.11.4.1 Robert Pitts was baptized on the 14th of March, 1841, at Malew, the son of John Pitts and Ann Kneale. He married Isabella Corkish on the 14th of November, 1863, at Marown when his age was recorded as 22 years. In 1841 and 1851 he was living with his parents at Ballasalla. In 1861 he was employed as a carter on the farm of William Callister at Shenvalley. In 1871 he and his family were living in a cottage at Shenvalley when he was employed as a miner. In 1881 the family were living at Tosaby, Malew, and Robert was still employed as a miner. In 1891 the family were living at 5, Archway, Douglas. In 1901 the family were living at Ballanard, Onchan, when he was employed a a general labourer. John Pitts was born circa 1812 in Lancashire. He married Ann Kneale on the 5th of May, 1838, at Malew. He died before the census of 1861. Ann Kneale was born circa 1810. She married John Pitts on the 5th of May, 1838, at Malew. In 1861, a widow, she was living at Ballasalla and was employed as a charwoman. 1.11.5 Catherine Ann/Jane Corkish (2230) was baptized on the 25th of April, 1847, at Rushen. She married James McDonald on the 2nd of April, 1866, at Malew. In 1851 she was living with her parents in Church Road, Malew. In 1861 she was living with her widowed mother in Malew Street (East side), Castletown. 1.11.6 Albert Corkish (2231) was baptized on the 24th of September, 1849, at St. Mary’s, Castletown. In 1851 he was living with his parents in Church Road, Malew. In 1861 she was living with her widowed mother in Malew Street (East side), Castletown. He moved to England and married, for though he has not been found in the 1871 census, the 1881 census shows him living at 3, Cobb Street, North Meols, a tailor and widower. 1.11.7 Henry Corkish (3093) was baptised on the 24th of September, 1849, at St. Mary, Castletown. He does not appear in the 1851 census. 1.11.8 Elizabeth Margaret Corkish (2232) was baptized on the 7th of July, 1852, at St. Mary’s, Castletown. In 1861 she was living with her widowed mother in Malew Street (East side), Castletown. She has not been identified in the 1871 census.
