1-4 Corkish - Diirect Family History, Volume IV 1.2.6 Mary Corkish (5928) was born circa 1640. She married Thomas Quork circa 1665. She was buried at Malew on the 6th of January, 1699–1700. Her Will mentions her husband, Thomas, and children Jane and William, both of age. 1.2.7 Catherine Corkish (5929) was born circa 1642. 1.3 The Children of Henry Corkish & Joney Maddrell continued from 1.2.1 and 1.2.1.1 Number &Name Type & Birthdate Place/Notes 5874 John C 1655 Rushen 5641 Joney C 1658 Rushen 5930 Henry C 1660 Rushen 5638 Richard C 1662 Rushen 5639 Jane C 1664 Rushen 5640 Margaret C 1666 Rushen Note: The birth order has not yet been definitely established. It is known that John was alive in 1660. 1.3.1 John Corkish (5874) was born circa 1655. He moved to Kent. He was a benificary under the Wills of his grandmother, Joney Taylor, and his father. On the 23rd of October, 1716, John Corkish of Kent enters a claim for goods due to him under the Will of his grand–mother, Jane Taylor alias Corkish. The claim is for one fourth of the estate. Mentioned in his mother’s Will. 1.3.2 Joney Corkish (5641) was born circa 1658. She was named in her mother’s Will of 1699 together with Thomas Watterson. She was not mentioned in her father’s Will of 1715. However, a grandaughter, Margaret Waterson, is mentioned in the Will which may indicate that Joney had married and was then dead. 1.3.3 Henry Corkish (5930) was born circa 1650. He was not mentioned in the Will of his grandmother in February of 1660 which probably means that he was not yet born. He is presumed to have farmed at Surby, to have married and had at least one son, Henry. See 1.4 for details of his descendants. 1.3.4 Richard Corkish (5638) was born circa 1662. He married Jane Harrison on the 14th of June, 1718, at Rushen. He died on the 28 th of March, 1728, and was buried on the 4th of April at Rushen. See 1.45 for details of his descendants. He was mentioned in his mother’s Will. His Will names his three children Harry, Richard and Catherine. As they were underage at his death, brother Henry and sisters Joney and Margaret were appointed supervisors. 1.3.4.1 Jane Harrison (5642) was born circa 1665. She married Richard Corkish on the 14th of June, 1718, at Rushen. After the death of Richard she married a second time to William Harrison on the 29th of July, 1732, at Arbory. She was buried at Arbory on the 23rd of July, 1745. See 1.45 for details of her descendants. William Harrison married Jane Corkish (als Harrison) on the 29th of July, 1732, at Arbory. He was not mentioned in his wife’s Will of 1745. Possible burial 3 Nov 1743 at Arbory. 1.3.5 Jane Corkish (5639) was born circa 1664. Three of her children, Margery, John and Joney, are mentioned in the Will of her father in 1715. She is mentioned in her mother’s Will of 1699. This means she married probably no later that 1710. 1.4 The Children of Henry Corkish & ... continued from 1.3.3 Number &Name Type & Birthdate Place/Notes 1075 Henry C 1675 Rushen 1.4.1 Henry Corkish (1075) was born circa 1675, probably in the parish of Rushen. He is known to have farmed at Surby Moar. He is presumed to have married (though the name of his wife has not yet been determined) as his Decree of 1760 mentions his two children. A wife is not mentioned and is presumed to have pre-deceased him. He died in 1759 and was buried on the 2nd of September at Rushen. See for details of his descendants. 1.5 The Children of Henry Corkish & ... continued from 1.4.1 Number &Name Type & Birthdate Place/Notes 1076 John C 1700 Rushen 5989 Joney C 1705 Rushen 1.5.1 John Corkish (1076)was born in the parish of Rushen in approximately 1700. He married firstly Mary Cottier on the 5 th of February, 1725, at Rushen and secondly Isabel Costain (see 13.3.7) on the 16th of December, 1732, at Rushen. This also was a second marriage for Isabel. He was appointed joint administrator of his father’s estate in 1760. John died in 1775 and was buried at Rushen on the 27th of August. See 1.6 and 1.8 for details of his descendants. The Will of Mary Cottier, February 1731, records the names of her three children, all underage. (Did she die in childbirth?) Three supervisors are appointed for the children, namely John, Ann and Margaret Cottier, presumeably her brother and sisters. Margaret Cottier was married to Thomas Taylor. In May of 1732 the supervisors agreed that the goods of Mary Cottier should be placed in the hand of the father, John, who gave as pledges his own father, Henry Corkish, and Edward Waterson. The marriage contract between John and Isabel Costain confirms the name of John’s father, Henry. The fact that no mention is made of Isabel’s parents would indicate that they were dead at this time. 1.5.1.1 Mary Cottier (4770) was born circa 1700. She may have had a brother, John, and sisters Ann and Margaret, as these three names are mentioned as supervisors to her children at her death. Her parents have not yet been identified. She married John Corkish on the 5th of February, 1725, at Rushen. She died on the 18 th of December, 1731, and was buried the next day at Rushen. See 1.6 for details of her descendants. 1.5.2 Joney Corkish (5989) was born circa 1705. She married John Cubbon on the 15th of July, 1727, at Rushen.
