On 15 May the two class rooms and a hall in the
Junior Section was blessed and inaugurated by the
Provincial, Mike T. Raj and Augustine
Ezhakunnel, the Rector of Loyola, Jamshedpur
with which we are “twinned”. . On this occasion
Loyola Community Jamshedpur, George
Fernandes from XLRI, Alwyn Rodrigues and Br.
Benji from Tepasai were present.

RUTUNGIA
Our school had the best results ever as 27 of the 28
students passed making our school shine in
Kandhamal. Though 6 students managed to pass in
First Division, the majority, 16 of them, passed in
Second. Kudos to Isidore Minj, the Principal, and
his team. For the school, 2 May was the last working
day, and the students were more than happy to
leave for summer holidays leaving the campus quiet
and dry with the summer heat. However, their
absence was a blessing for the catechists of the
parish, who had the experience of going through a 3-
day Ignatian retreat for the first time under Bene
Kujur. It was a new experience for them as they
were mostly used to the charismatic retreats. The
month of May brings the parishioners for the
evening rosary in their mandalis. Mother Mary must
have been greatly pleased seeing them, starting
from kids to the old, bringing flowers to offer to her.
Bipin came to visit us and assisted Ajit Soreng in
the vocation camp held at the Pastoral Center at
Konjamundi. They were greatly pleased to receive
the names of a large number of aspirants to join the
Jesuits.
Isidore took four of our teachers to Loyola School,
Bhubaneswar for a staff orientation program
organized by Ajit Bahala for the teachers of the
three Odiya medium schools. It seems they were
greatly enriched by the facilitator and his team.
Isidore is hoping to have another orientation for the
all the teachers with the help of those four who went
to Bhubaneswar. It is a great way of passing on
learning among colleagues.
We had a number of scholastics visiting Rutungia to
learn either Kui or Odiya under the guidance of
Bene Kujur. Johnson, Angelus and Santosh
had the experience of learning Kui and Prabhakar,
Odiya. Some of them polished up their preferred
language while staying in the villages. They had to
give exams even though they were fully involved in
the Youth Camp organized by Ajit and Vinod. We
had about 70 boys and girls spending three days in
the campus attending the sessions and getting fully
immersed in various games, cultural items and
work. It was a great joy to see them enjoying each
other's company. We hope this camp would
rejuvenate the youth of our parish to empower them
and the others. About 25 youth had also participated
in the diocesan youth camp held at Raikia parish in
the beginning of May.
Renny Abraham visited us as he had to go to Raikia
for the institutional fact finding job. The youth were
happy to see him as he attended and assessed their
cultural programs. He was in Rutungia for his
Guided Diaconate and Pastoral Ministry. We also
had a few Sisters who were on the lookout for
prospective candidates to join their congregations.
Our house also has become empty as Vinod and
Santosh left for Loyola School, Sankhabhanga to
attend the Scholastics Get-Together 2013. Vinod
