Surin, as he moves off to take charge as Principal of
Xavier College , Gamaria, while still wearing the hat
of PCF. I guess Joe can attribute his 'cool, super
cool' poise to his daily practice of 'yoga'!
Loyola Niwas played hosts to 'The 3 Idiots': two
stalwarts from Chennai: Jerry Cutinha and Vally
Mendonca and the third from Delhi, Alex
Mascarenhas. While Jerry took on the role of being
the “brains” in the planning and execution of the
Province Assembly on the theme of Apostolic and
Strategic Planning for the Province, Vally used his
versatile skills in multi-media to formulating and
preparing flex banners to power point presentations.
Alex put to good use his analytical skills as he tried
to sort out the data coming in from different
communities/ministries on the questionnaire sent
out in preparation for the Province Assembly. Words
are inadequate to give them the due credit they
deserve!

LUPUNGUTU
The month of May was really the month of
celebrations. We had two birthday celebrations,
Paul Hembrom who celebrated his 3 May and
Oscar Horo celebrated his 25 years of priesthood
on 12 May. Soon after that on 15 May he celebrated
his birthday. The Jubilee celebration of Oscar was a
time of grace in which his family members
participated. They also gifted two big khassies on
the occasion. The celebration does not end with that
alone but we had reason to celebrate for the good
performance of our students as well in the Matric.
This year 183 students appeared in the Board Exam
in which 182 were declared successful while one is
still under scrutiny. 159 of them got more that 60%
marks that is equal to First Division and 23 of them
got less than 60% that is more or less a Second
Division. 17 students got more than 80% and one
student was awarded 100% in Math. Hats off to the
Headmaster, Paul Hembrom, and the staff for the
results that will enable our students to walk with
heads held high!
The increasing heat in the district forced the District
Administration to instruct all schools in the District to
reschedule the class timing. Thus we used to begin
class as early as 6.30 in the morning and end at
10.30. However, we closed down the school for the
summer vacation on the 18 May. During the
vacation Pascal Kerketta and Paul Marla stayed
back to attend to the house maintenance work while
all others left for the Proving Assembly and Province
Retreat.

RENGRA
Ever since Fabian Bhuinyan came to Rengra, he
is feeling under the weather. He rested for a few
days in Divya Bharati and later was advised to go to
XLRI to have a thorough medical check up.
Sushil Kerketta, Fabian Bhuinyan and Mike
Fernandes attended the Province Assembly and the
common Province Retreat in XLRI.
On 9 May Kolhan Villa was held in in Rengra. This
year 63.87% students passed in the Matric
Examination – not flattering but gives us enough
reason to see whether we should continue with
High School when we do face a dearth of teachers
for Maths and Science in a remote place like
Rengra.
The DEO, Mr. Valerian Tirkey, inspected our
premises and raised our hopes that approval would
be forthcoming.. Paul Hembrom and Anselm
