1 basmati rice
The grains of basmati rice are
longer than most other types of
rice. Cooked grains of Basmati
rice are characteristically free
flowing rather than sticky, as
with most long-grain rice. Cooked
basmati rice can be uniquely
identified by its fragrance.
5 jasmine rice
Jasmine Rice gives off a delicate
fragrance reminiscent of Jasmine
Tea. Although originally grown
in Thailand, Jasmine Rice is now
cultivated in India and the United
States. Jasmine Rice is similar in
flavor and texture to Basmati Rice
and typically lower in price.
2 bamboo rice
Bamboo rice is short grain white rice
infused with pure fresh bamboo juice.
This product is all natural. When
cooked, it is pale green and tends to
be quite moist causing the grains to
stick together. This rice is great for
sushi.
6 Red Himalayan rice
Red Rice contains more of the
Natural Bran than does White Rice.
For this reason it requires a longer
cooking time and has a nuttier
more complex flavor than processed
White Rice.
3 carnaroli rice
traditionally used for making
risotto, differing from the more
common arborio rice due to its
higher starch content and firmer
texture, as well as having a longer
grain. It is often described as being
a "superfino" rice or as "the king of
rice".
7 Superfino arborio rice
Named after a town in northwest Italy, Arborio
rice is one of the most popular varieties used for
Italian risotto recipes. Arborio rice is a shortgrain
variety that is very plump and contains
more starch than many other types of rice which
is an important component for creating creamy
dishes, such as risotto.
4 gaba rice
Germinated brown rice or GABA-rice is an
innovation that started to gain significant
attention. Germinated brown rice comes from
the process of bringing brown rice into
germination. By itself, brown rice already
contains many nutrients such as dietary
fiber, phytic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E and
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
8 sushi rice
Sushi Rice is a small, round,
ivory colored grain with a
mildly sweet flavor. This type
of rice holds together well
because it becomes sticky as it
cooks. It is also very commonly
used in Asian desserts.
