Troubleshooting<br />

Use this chart to help you solve daily operational problems. If there is any problem you cannot solve, contact your <strong>JVC</strong> service<br />

center.<br />

General<br />

PROBLEM<br />

Power does not come on.<br />

Power is not supplied to the<br />

powered subwoofer.<br />

The remote control does not<br />

work.<br />

No sound.<br />

POSSIBLE CAUSE<br />

The power cord is not connected to an<br />

AC outlet or the center unit.<br />

The power cord of the subwoofer is not<br />

connected to an AC outlet.<br />

The system cable is not connected.<br />

It is too far from the center unit, or is not<br />

facing the center unit.<br />

There is something obstructing the<br />

remote sensor.<br />

The remote control is not aimed at the<br />

remote sensor on the center unit or<br />

components.<br />

The remote control mode selector is set<br />

at an incorrect position.<br />

The batteries are exhausted.<br />

The batteries have been inserted the<br />

wrong way round (+/–).<br />

The remote control is not set to operate<br />

the DVD player, tuner (FM/AM—MW), or<br />

sound setting.<br />

Sunlight is falling directly on the remote<br />

sensor.<br />

The remote control signals are not set<br />

correctly.<br />

The system cord and/or speaker cord is<br />

not connected.<br />

There is a short in the speaker cord.<br />

The audio cord is not connected to AUX<br />

IN and/or DIGITAL IN correctly.<br />

An incorrect source has been selected.<br />

Muting is on.<br />

The decode mode is not set correctly.<br />

SOLUTION<br />

Insert the plug into the socket.<br />

Press on the center unit or AUDIO<br />

on the remote control to turn off the<br />

system, insert the plug firmly into an AC<br />

outlet, and press on the center unit<br />

or AUDIO on the remote control<br />

again.<br />

Connect the system cable.<br />

Come closer to the center unit. (Operate<br />

the remote control within 7 m from the<br />

center unit.)<br />

Avoid any obstacles.<br />

Aim the remote control at the remote<br />

sensor on each equipment you want to<br />

operate.<br />

Set it to the correct position.<br />

Replace the batteries.<br />

Insert the batteries correctly.<br />

For the DVD player, press DVD before<br />

you perform the operations.<br />

For the tuner, press FM/AM before you<br />

perform the operations.<br />

For using the sound setting buttons to<br />

adjust the output level of the speakers,<br />

press SOUND before you perform the<br />

operations.<br />

Cover the remote sensor from direct<br />

sunlight.<br />

Enter the correct manufacturer’s code.<br />

Check the connection.<br />

Reconnect the speaker cord.<br />

Connect the cord correctly.<br />

Select the correct source.<br />

Press MUTING to cancel muting.<br />

Select the proper decode mode.<br />
