High 1 Ski Resort, one of the nation's top-notch ski resort located
in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, opened on Nov. 19. High 1
Ski Resort was picked as the "Top Brand of the Year" in 2009 and
ranked first in terms of customer satisfaction in 2010 for the second
consecutive year, a spokesman of the ski resort said.
"To meet customers' growing demand for top-class ski resorts,
we recently opened 500 top-grade condominiums, double facilities
for visitors, and additionally established fan-type snowmaking
machines," he said. "Along with this, we increased the lift
transportation capacity by 30 percent and expanded seasonal bus
routes, enabling High 1 Ski Resort to be reborn as a state-of-theart
ski resort," he explained.
High 1 Ski Resort is a great vacation spot for families as well as
a top resort for advanced skiiers. Several beginner slopes are located
right next to the intermediate and advanced slopes, letting skiiers
of various levels enjoy skiing together. It is one of the nation's

slopes, the spokesman said. "In keeping with the rising number of
customers to the ski resort, the company built three new outdoor
spas- the event spa, the massage spa and the doctor fish spa - in
the Mountain Condominium," he said. "In addition, we opened a
play facility complex equipped with a ski nursery room, a table

Noting that High 1 Ski Resort has been operating up-to-date ski
lifts armed with the RFID system since its opening in 2006, to remove
customers' inconveniences and shorten waiting time, the
spokesman said, "We have increased the lift transportation capacity
by 30 percent this time to offer better services to our customers."
For convenience of visitors to the ski resort, the company
also focused its efforts on improving parking services by additionally
securing parking lots for over 1,000 cars and operating
shuttle buses between parking lots and the slopes.
At the same time, the resort increased their manpower to offer
transportation guide services to customers who hope to visit nearby
tourist attractions, in addition to enjoy skiing. "Along with
this, it increased the operating frequency of seasonal buses linking
the metropolitan and southern part of Korea with the High 1 Ski
Resort, while expanding the number of resting places on the
slopes from six to 12," he said.
"To provide visitors with beautiful moments to watch and enjoy,
it will hold a multimedia fireworks festival on every Saturday
from Dec. 18 and other new events, including the High 1 Ice
Village featuring ice sculptures and the Saturday stage which
shows jazz, pantomime and magic shows," said the spokesman.
4.2km-long slope
The 4.2km-long slope boasting of a 645m vertical drop links the
Mountain Top located 1,340m above sea level and the Valley
Condominium via the Mountain Top located 1,250m above sea
level, luring beginner skiers. Additionally, a top-class lift with six
seats was set up this year, in addition to the existing lift system
consisting of three gondolas with eight seats, five chair lifts with
four to six seats, and one T bar with two seats. High 1 Ski Resort
is the sole ski resort in Korea operating three gondolas.
"Noteworthy is that High 1 Ski Resort is designed to enable
and disabled skiers to enjoy ski without any inconvenience. As it
possesses two official slopes suitable for the World Cup skiing
competitions, it can host various skiing competitions, including
the Ski World Cup for Disabled People and the Free Style Ski
Competition," he commented. In addition to a top-notch skiing
experience, visitors to High 1 Ski Resort can enjoy a truly unique
dining experience at many restaurants, including Unam-jeong,
which opened on July 10 this year to introduce "hansik" traditional
Korean foods. "With the full opening of the national road No.
38 linking High 1 Ski Resort, customers in Seoul can arrive to the
ski resort within two hours and forty minutes by car, shortening
the travel time by 30 minutes," he added.
