However, competition in our market-place will inevitably intensify: retailers will strive to improve the value oftheir offer; finance companies will broaden their customer base through greater sophistication in vetting applications and in managing custorner relationships. This is a spur to continual investment in our propositions and customer care. It also underlines the necessity for THORN to bring its global experience and scale to bear in each local market-place. To do this, effective organisation is key. THORN is now structured into three operational management groupings: Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The structure corresponds to major economic blocs within which integrated management teams can operate and where support synergies can be aggressively exploited. In Americas, the service, primary distribution and administrative functions ofthe two brands (Rent-A- Center and Remco) are being merged to form a single support resource. The previously separate UK and Continental Europe management structures have recently been consolidated as THORN Europe and various initiatives have been launched
to idcntif,v and exploit synerg-r; opportunities across the region. Fiotel chains, ibr instance, are ke,v ilsritutional customers foTTHORN Europe.
