No organisation can hope to achieve such goals unilaterally. Being ecologically and economically efficient - eco-efflcient - requires connitment lrom business, and support and enabling fiameworks fiom governnrents and ftnancial markets. At a local levcl social responsibility can be developed through the community by ibstering conmunal links and participating in joint projects with local groups.To respond to global inequalities both social and economic - requires international co-operation with deveioping nations to transfer best environmental practice. THORN EMI believes that long-ternr profitability and growth depends on planning for change, and a readiness to alter business practice to reflect social shifts in which er-rvironmental considerations are an increasing inlluence.
