Programme Activities<br />
Some of the programmes which are executed <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />
1) Local <strong>Awareness</strong> Television Promos,<br />
which reflect themes <strong>in</strong> the National<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> Policy Document such as the<br />
brand elements of friendl<strong>in</strong>ess,<br />
cleanl<strong>in</strong>ess, safety and security.<br />
2) <strong>Tourism</strong> Newsletters for Primary<br />
Schools are reproduced from the<br />
<strong>Caribbean</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong> Organization’s<br />
newsletter “Mak<strong>in</strong>g Waves”. These<br />
newsletters are distributed to all the<br />
private and public primary schools <strong>in</strong> the<br />
Island.<br />
3) Speak Off Competition, this is held to select Barbados’ representative (Junior M<strong>in</strong>ister of<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong>) to attend the <strong>Caribbean</strong><br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> Organization’s Annual<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> Youth Congress.<br />
4) <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>Awareness</strong> and<br />
Information for the Royal<br />
Barbados Police Force<br />
(RBPF), the aim of this<br />
programme is to raise<br />
awareness of the tourism<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry <strong>in</strong> the RBPF given<br />
the critical nature of safety<br />
and security to the success<br />
of the island’s tourism<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry.<br />
5) Service Excellence – Immigration, programme aimed to improve the <strong>in</strong>teraction<br />
between immigration officers and visitors, and to raise the level of service between<br />
visitors and the Immigration Officers at our ports of entry.<br />
6) <strong>Tourism</strong>, Safety and Security <strong>Awareness</strong> for Security Personnel <strong>in</strong> the Industry,<br />
the aim of this programme is to assist this group <strong>in</strong> understand<strong>in</strong>g that the creation of a<br />
safe and secure environment for visitors is critical to the susta<strong>in</strong>ability of the <strong>in</strong>dustry and<br />
that security officers <strong>in</strong> the public and private sector play an <strong>in</strong>tegral role <strong>in</strong> this process.<br />
