Alzheimer’s Caregivers, 2nd Thursday of each<br />
month (Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8, Dec. 13), 6 – 7:30 pm.<br />
This group is composed of trained facilitators from the<br />
Alzheimer’s Association and other caregivers who care for<br />

Dementia Support Two support groups meet<br />
simultaneously – one for persons with the diagnosis and<br />

Diabetes Support 2nd Monday of each month<br />
(Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12), 11 am – 12 pm. Facilitated by<br />
a Registered Dietician from Avista Hospital, you will learn<br />
how to manage your diabetes, how to eat, stay healthy,<br />
and new ideas about nutrition. No meeting in December.<br />

(Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Dec. 19) 10:30 – 11:30 am.<br />

drop-in group is for you to talk with other caregivers, share<br />
experiences, challenges, and resources. Co-sponsored<br />
by Geriatric Integrated Services and Lafayette <strong>Senior</strong><br />

Rainbow Elders of Boulder County A<br />
social support group for 55+ gay, lesbian, and transgender<br />

Respite & Companion Volunteer Program<br />

& Companion Volunteer<br />
Program, jointly<br />

Aging and local <strong>Senior</strong><br />
Services, matches volunteers<br />
with older adults<br />
in the community who<br />
live alone or with a family<br />
caregiver. Volunteers<br />
visit their older partners<br />
two hours each week<br />
and provide friendship,<br />
emotional support, and<br />
companion-level assistance<br />
with various activities, as well as respite for<br />
family caregivers. New volunteer trainings are held<br />
regularly.<br />

EGSMC Stroke Support Group<br />
or those who have recovered from a stroke. The group<br />
is a great resource for information and encouragement.<br />
They provide support, help you problem solve, learn about<br />
stroke and recovery issues, help you find local resources,<br />
or just have fun. Second & fourth Thursday of each<br />
month, 10 – 11 a.m. at the Exempla Good Samaritan<br />
Conference <strong>Center</strong> in Lafayette. For more information,<br />

services and mobility options through a free telephone<br />
consultation with a mobility specialist from Via. Call 303-<br />

Via, formerly Special Transit, provides low<br />
cost, door-to-door wheelchair accessible<br />
transportation within Boulder County. Nofare<br />
(free) or reduced-fare options are available for those<br />
