Etomidate / Administration
Available as a solution in propylene glycol.

An IV induction dose is 0.3 mg/kg.
Etomidate / Side effects
a. Myoclonus may occur after administration,
particularly in response to stimulation.
b. Nausea and vomiting occur more frequently in the
postoperative period than with other anesthetic agents.
c. Venous irritation may be minimized by administration
into a free-flowing IV carrier infusion.
d. Adrenal suppression
Suppresses adrenal steroid synthesis for up to 24
hours (probably an effect of little clinical significance).
Repeated doses or infusions are not recommended
because of the risk of significant adrenal suppression.
