PAGE 30 ADAM LAMBERT HUDSON’S LETTER I was wondering whether to write my monthly letter about the General Election, but Mother Nature decided to throw an Icelandic hissy fit and other events took precedence. At the time of writing, I’m stranded in Las Vegas on a press trip that has run on longer than expected, and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to return to London. Hopefully, by the time you read this, I’ll be safely back home. Yes, I know that being stranded in Las Vegas is not the worst thing that can happen, but it means that I am emailing this letter from abroad and am not around to check the final pages as we send the magazine to the printers - so please bear with us if there are any little glitches this month. We’ve pulled it all together under difficult circumstances! Sometimes things happen that you have absolutely no control over, and you have no choice but to roll with it and make the best of a challenging situation. That said, I think we’ve got another great issue for you. I was very proud recently to chat to one of my heroes - the amazing Sir Ian McKellen. Check out our exclusive with him in this issue, along with our interview with a new gay kid on the block - popstar Adam Lambert, plus the wonderful writer/director Philip Ridley. We’ve got full listings and highlights for the month of May, plus the hottest scene pictures and news. As for the General Election? Well, it’s not my job to tell you who to vote for, but whatever you do, do vote - it’s shaping up to be the most closely fought and important election in many years. Enjoy this issue and keep sending in your feedback. hudson@outmag.co.uk CONTENTS PAGE 04 LETTERS Send your correspondence to letters@outmag.co.uk PAGE 06 MY LONDON DJ and musician Larry Tee gives us his capital highlights PAGE 08 SHOPPING Secure memory sticks and Ginch Gonch pants PAGE 11 DIARY May’s cultural highlights in and around London, plus Stonewall Equality Walk in Brighton PAGE 24 SIR IAN MCKELLEN Ahead of his starring role in ITV’s The Prisoner, Sir Ian McKellen talks exclusively to David Hudson about his varied career PAGE 28 MUSIC New albums from Stained Glass Heroes and Katie Melua PAGE 30 ADAM LAMBERT Ahead of the UK PAGE 12 DIARY: BRAZIL!
