Development Centers (SBDCs) are partnerships primarily
between the government and colleges/universities administered
by the Small Business Administration and aims at giving
educational services for small business owners and aspiring
entrepreneurs.
Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business
Technology Transfer Programs – If your small business
is engaged in scientific research and development (R&D),
you may qualify for federal grants under the SBIR (Small
Business Innovation Research) and the STTR (Small Business
Technology Transfer) programs. SBIR and STTR programs
encourage small businesses to undertake R&D projects that

• Have high potential for commercialization, if successful

Veterans Business Outreach Program – The Veterans
Business Outreach Program (VBOP) is designed to provide
entrepreneurial development services such as business training,
counseling and mentoring, and referrals for eligible veterans
owning or considering starting a small business.
Women’s Business Centers – Women’s Business Centers
(WBCs) represent a national network of nearly 100
educational centers designed to assist women start and grow
small businesses. WBCs operate with the mission to “level the
playing field” for women entrepreneurs, who still face unique
obstacles in the world of business.
