The officials would take me out for questioning at night. They would take out <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r detainees in<br />
my cell too. I started working with <strong>the</strong> [Tamil] paramilitary groups that openly visited <strong>the</strong> camp. They<br />
would take me outside to identify o<strong>the</strong>rs who had been involved with <strong>the</strong> LTTE. The people in <strong>the</strong><br />
paramilitary groups knew how <strong>the</strong> officials were treating us. It was common knowledge that we were<br />
raped. The paramilitary members helped me escape from <strong>the</strong> camp on in early July 2010. I arrived in<br />
Colombo in a van and stayed at my uncle’s house. 116<br />
MB’s medical notes from his medical practitioner, on file with <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> <strong>Watch</strong>, show that he is<br />
currently under treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.<br />
MB said he remained in Colombo until he decided to apply for a UK visa and was detained again. He<br />
was released from detention following payment of a bribe in June 2011.<br />
