I stayed in a bloodstained and dirty room in that house for nearly eight days. I was made to do menial<br />
work in that house. I was not sexually abused or tortured in this second detention. I got talking to<br />
someone who used to bring food into that house twice a day and learned that this was a People’s<br />
Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam [PLOTE, a pro-government Tamil paramilitary group] camp. 133<br />
RC’s medico legal <strong>report</strong>, on file with <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> <strong>Watch</strong>, notes 29 scars on her body including nine<br />
near her genitals, provide “strong support to her account of sexual abuse.” In addition, <strong>the</strong> <strong>report</strong><br />
notes, that “her pronounced anxiety and fear match <strong>the</strong> criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder.”<br />
RC told <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> <strong>Watch</strong> she escaped from detention with <strong>the</strong> help of a man who delivered<br />
food to <strong>the</strong> PLOTE camp. She paid an “agent” to bribe authorities and facilitate her departure from<br />
Sri Lanka in May 2010.<br />
