Consilium’s products and solutions have been on the market a
long time and bear the hallmark of long tradition and history –
this is particularly relevant in 2012 as the Consilium’s speed logs
(sAl) celebrate their 100-year jubilee. Consilium has developed
many of the products and systems it markets, while others have
been acquired. With its global market organisation, Consilium is
increasingly able to also offer the sale of external suppliers’ quality
products.
Consilium’s marketed trademarks have been installed, used and
gained respect over many decades. the description below shows
some important years in Consilium’s modern history since the
Company’s 1994 stock exchange introduction.
1995 Consilium acquires Selesmar Italy, which becomes
Consilium Selesmar.
1997 Consilium launches the world’s first integrated fire alarm
and gas detection system. In the same year, Consilium
acquires a marine VDR development project from
Wahlberg and Sehlin, completing and industrialising the
product.
1999 Consilium’s first voyage data recorder is granted
international type approval.
2000 Consilium acquires Japanese Nittan’s marine fire alarm
operation.
2003 Consilium develops a fire alarm system customised for the
transport market, which achieves a major breakthrough
when Danish State Railways (DSB) orders systems for
100 train sets. In the same year, Consilium launches a
new radar family, Selesmar Selux, after several years of
intensive development. Consilium also launches the new
T-series family of logs, and presents a solution for using
the log’s acoustic pulse to measure bottom depths, which
goes on to become the world’s first combined speed log
with echo sounder function.
2004 Consilium establishes the manufacture of navigational
products in China. In the same year, Consilium acquires
Norwegian competitor Servoteknikk.
2005 In response to new international regulations, Consilium
launches a simplified voyage data recorder, Consilium
S-VDR. The same year sees the launch of Consilium’s
CS4000 fire alarm system. The system represents
Consilium’s first step toward a new construction
philosophy and evolves into the Group’s most successful
proprietary market offering.
2006 Consilium launches a new generation of marine voyage
data recorders and sells its 1000th VDR – a milestone in
the Group’s history. Consilium and Japanese company
Nittan merge their Scandinavian fire alarm operations for
the land market to form a new company, CN System AB.

2007 As part of its efforts to establish a clearer focus on
products and systems for safety and navigation,
Consilium Group portions out Precomp Solutions AB
(publ), formerly Consilium Components, to its shareholders.
During the year, the company launches two new
products – an emission monitoring system (EMS) for
ships and an electronic chart display and information
system (ECDIS).
2008 Consilium establishes a new business area in response
to increasing demand from the oil and gas industry,
particularly in the Middle East. The Automation business
area started life as a project within Consilium’s business
development. The Company establishes a new market
company in Qatar to serve the local market with sales,
planning & design, customer service and support.
2009 Consilium merges the operations in the Fire & Gas and
Navigation business areas to form a new business area:
Consilium Marine & Safety. During the year, Consilium
sells its half share in the tank level measurement company
Jowa Consilium US Inc. The disposal means there are
no longer any entities reported under Other operations.
During the year, Consilium also acquires 51 percent of the
shares in its sales representative in Spain, Radio Maritime
International S.A., and the company’s name is changed to
Consilium RMI Spain S.A.
2010 Consilium continues to strengthen its market organisation
and establishes additional offices in Belgium, India and the
United States. In total, the company has its own offices in
19 countries and 95 percent of sales come from markets
outside Sweden. The strong global reach also attracts
other product suppliers and Consilium adds a number
of external supplementary products and systems that
have good potential for increasing growth with stronger
margins. Sales of products and systems to new markets
and specific niche segments increase progressively and
Consilium’s orders include orders for fire alarm systems
for high-speed trains in China and a breakthrough order
for integrated navigation and communication systems.
2011 Consilium’s speed logs (SAL) are celebrating their 100year
jubilee. As a result of the progressive increase in
sales of fire safety systems to the on-shore oil and gas
industry, the name of the Automation business area is
changed to Fire safety & Automation. Consilium signs a
global cooperation agreement with Orange for the sale
and installation of marine satellite communication solutions.
With traditional marine products as its technology
and volume base, Consilium increases its focus on specific
niche products and successfully launches special radar for
the detection of oil spills (Consilium Oil Spill Detection
Radar).
