RESOLUTION
Upon the Retirement of Mark Culhane
WHEREAS, Mark Culhane began his employment in August 1987 as a Faculty member
in the Speech Department; and
WHEREAS, Mark has graciously and professionally served as a role model to his
colleagues by showing compassion and empathy towards his students through active listening of
their stories of hardship; and
WHEREAS, he competed with the forensics team at Rock Valley College, and later
became a coach for the Rock Valley College forensics team, serving for several years; and
WHEREAS, Mark expands his students’ vocabulary with lectures supplemented by his
colorful language and sense of humor; and
WHEREAS, he entices students to travel to his native Ireland by way of his Irish
storytelling and narratives; and
THEREFORE, be it now resolved that Mark Culhane take with him the gratitude and
best wishes of all his colleagues at Rock Valley College and the Board of Trustees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the undersigned express their hope that his
happiest years are those which lie ahead;
