RESOLUTION
Upon the Retirement of Vincent Madama
WHEREAS, Vincent Madama began his employment in August 1982 as a faculty member
in the Health Science Department; and
WHEREAS, Vince proved to be one of the most versatile faculty and administrators at
Rock Valley College, where he taught Respiratory Care, was a Director, Assistant Dean and an
Associate Dean; and
WHEREAS, he was always a willing, involved member of various committees such as
Threat Assessment, Foundations of Excellence, Facilities, Finance, Strategic Enrollment and many
others; and
WHEREAS, Vince was a founding co-chair of the Healthcare Career Fair, and
WHEREAS, he was a vital part of the planning meetings for the Jacobs Center for Science
and Math (JCSM), ensuring that the Math faculty received extraordinary teaching facilities and their
cherished chalkboards; and
WHEREAS, Vince’s expertise in and love for VISIO made for many charts and graphs; and
WHEREAS, he offered up his expertise in assessment during the HLC visit almost 20 years
ago; and
WHEREAS, Vince often shared music in CL II (and the JCSM) as the sounds traveled
down the hallways; and
WHEREAS, he has made the old new again with the return of long hair and a beard; and
WHEREAS, Vince’s time heading the Dental Hygiene program and Math department
taught him the difference between a square root and a root canal; and
WHEREAS, his study of Respiratory Care made “heavy breathing” a good thing; and
THEREFORE, be it now resolved that Vincent Madama take with him the gratitude and
best wishes of all his colleagues at Rock Valley College and the Board of Trustees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the undersigned express their hope that his happiest
years are those which lie ahead;
