RESOLUTION
Upon the Retirement of Charles Nelson
WHEREAS, Charles (Chuck) Nelson began his employment in January 1983 as a
faculty member in the Computer Science Department; and
WHEREAS, Chuck earned his M.S. in Computer Science from NIU in 1984 and
completed several post-graduate credits at the University of Central Oklahoma from 1996-1998;
and
WHEREAS, he served as the Director of the CIS program from 1984-1991 and returned
to his faculty position in August 1991, and
WHEREAS, Chuck has served on several committees, managed the development and
expansion of the CIS program and campus computer labs, witnessed the development and
advancement of computing technology for several decades (but has never claimed to have
invented the internet), has dedicated himself to stay current with the latest computer languages;
and
WHEREAS, Chuck, with one more surgery could be considered either the Terminator or
the Six Million Dollar Man (depending if he has had his coffee — of which he makes a great
pot), will be missed, as he always made us laugh with his sense of humor, kindness and
dedication ; and
THEREFORE, be it now resolved that Charles Nelson take with him the gratitude and
best wishes of all his colleagues at Rock Valley College and the Board of Trustees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the undersigned express their hope that his
happiest years are those which lie ahead;
