The loyalty and dedication of our people have been key factors in the
prosperity of SAB since 1895. During the 1998/99 year under review,
SAB had some 49,000 people working in 19 countries around
the world. Of this total, 59 per cent have been with the Group
for five years or more. During the review period, these people

received 33 per cent of the wealth created by the Group as direct remuneration and, since
the inception of the Employee Share Plan in 1998, some 680 employees have exercised the
option to participate in this scheme. Over the past seven years, the price of SAB shares has recorded a compound
growth rate of 15.1 per cent on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and members of the share plan enjoy the benefit
of a superior track record.
