460_OM_MY09.book Page 56 Wednesday, April 2, 2008 10:32 AM 56 Locks and car alarm Switching off the alarm if tripped If the alarm has been triggered (direction indicators flashing and siren sounding) it can be turned off by pressing one of the buttons on the remote control or, if you are sitting in the car, by turning the ignition to position 3 (see below). Turns off lights and siren. Unlocks car. Turns off lights and siren. Car remains locked. Turns off lights and siren. Unlocks luggage compartment. Turns off lights and siren. Turns on exterior and cabin lighting. Car remains locked. If sitting in the car: Turn the remote control to position 3 in the ignition switch. NOTICE • The alarm can be disarmed and the car unlocked if you inadvertently press the unlocking button on the remote control while within range of the car. • If you lock the car in very severe cold, check that the doors lock properly. The lock buttons on the doors should all go down. Failing this, unlock and then lock the car again. Movement sensor 3 The movement sensor monitors the cabin. The alarm will be triggered if a movement is detected, such as if someone sticks in their arm through a smashed window. Note: The movement sensor could also be triggered by an uninstalled cabin heater. To prevent a false alarm, switch off the movement sensor as described on page 57 when the cabin heater is to be used. Tilt sensor 3 The tilt sensor monitors the angle of the car. The tilt sensor will trigger the alarm if the angle of the car changes relative to its angle when it was locked, for example if it is raised with a jack.
460_OM_MY09.book Page 57 Wednesday, April 2, 2008 10:32 AM Locks and car alarm 57 Disabling the movement and tilt sensors If, for example, you leave a dog in the car, park on a ferry or use a cabin heater, you should disable the sensors as described below: 1Select Settings using the steering wheel buttons, or . 2 Hold the SET button depressed until a chime sounds. 3Select Theft Alarm using the steering wheel buttons, or . 4 Hold the SET button depressed until a chime sounds. 5Select DOOR ONLY. 6 End by pressing the SET button. Theft Alarm 3 FULL ALARM DOOR ONLY Movement and tilt sensors (if fitted) will be reactivated automatically the next time you start the car. You can activate the sensors manually as described above. Select FULL ALARM under Step 4 above. The functions of FULL ALARM and DOOR ONLY modes are explained below. FULL ALARM: The alarm will be triggered if a window is smashed and someone sticks in their arm to take something from the car. All windows and the sunroof should be shut when the car is locked in FULL ALARM mode. DOOR ONLY: In this mode, the movement and tilt sensors (if fitted) are disabled. This can be useful if you wish to leave a dog in the car or are travelling by ferry, for example. Panic function The alarm function also has a panic function. For cars without car alarm, we recommend that you contact an authorised <strong>Cadillac</strong> workshop. The panic function makes it possible to trigger the alarm to attract attention or the like. The panic alarm can only be activated while the car is stationary. The alarm is silenced if the car is driven off. When the alarm is tripped, the lights and siren come on for 3 minutes or until you press one of the remote control buttons. To start the alarm manually proceed as follows: • Press and hold the button on the remote control for more than 2 seconds, or if you are sitting in the car... • Press and hold the or button on the driver’s door for more than 2 seconds. To switch off the alarm: • Press one of the remote control buttons or, if you are sitting in the car, the or button on the driver’s door.
