MFA Education Department<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s have access to public programs at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> at special rates through <strong>the</strong> MFA’s Education<br />

Department. A valid <strong>School</strong> ID must be presented to obtain privileges. Events include films, lectures,<br />

performances, and concerts. Tickets may be purchased in advance to guarantee admission. If seats are<br />

available at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> event, admission is free (this does not apply to film events).<br />

MFA Morse Study Room<br />

The Morse Study Room is part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> department <strong>of</strong> Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, and is only for<br />

viewing works on paper. The collection houses all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> European and American prints, drawings,<br />

watercolors, posters, artist’s books, etc. (Asian prints, Islamic miniatures and such are in <strong>the</strong> Art <strong>of</strong> Asia.)<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s can make an appointment for <strong>the</strong> study room by calling Patrick Murphy at 617-369-3112.<br />

President’s Office (x3581)<br />

The President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong> is responsible for long-range planning and oversight <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> administration and<br />

a range <strong>of</strong> issues that support <strong>the</strong> well being <strong>of</strong> students and faculty. <strong>Student</strong> input is valued and<br />

welcome. Toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> faculty and staff, <strong>the</strong> President seeks to ensure that <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

fosters <strong>the</strong> individual creativity and development <strong>of</strong> each student.<br />

The President’s Office oversees and supervises <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s efforts to enhance endowment for<br />

scholarship, program support, and o<strong>the</strong>r resource-acquisition activities. It is <strong>the</strong> primary liaison to <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong>’s Board <strong>of</strong> Governors and <strong>the</strong> director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>. The President’s Office also organizes<br />

commencement ceremonies.<br />

Protective Services (x3508 or in emergencies dial x3213)<br />

The Protective Services Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> MFA has oversight for safety and security-related issues at <strong>the</strong><br />

MFA and SMFA. Security Officers who staff <strong>the</strong> front desk are part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Protective Services Department.<br />

Security, safety, or staffing concerns can be directed to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Affairs Office, which works closely<br />

with Protective Services and advocates student issues when appropriate.<br />

Provost (x3581)<br />

As both <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s chief academic <strong>of</strong>ficer and chief operations and planning <strong>of</strong>ficer, <strong>the</strong> provost works<br />

closely with <strong>the</strong> dean <strong>of</strong> faculty in support and development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> academic and studio program. The<br />

provost coordinates <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r senior administrators to assure that activities across all <strong>School</strong><br />

areas are focused and organized in support <strong>of</strong> faculty and students and <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s studio and academic<br />

programs. The provost reports to <strong>the</strong> dean <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong> and supervises directly <strong>the</strong> associate provost, <strong>the</strong><br />

dean <strong>of</strong> faculty, and <strong>the</strong> Development Office.<br />

Registrar’s Office (x3621)<br />

The Registrar’s Office is responsible for student records and student information. It stores all student<br />

records and Review Board folders, manages student registration for studio classes, and responds to<br />

student requests for transcripts, enrollment verifications, and status changes (i.e., changing from a parttime<br />

to full-time student or vice versa).<br />

Specific functions or duties performed by <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice include <strong>the</strong> following<br />

° Course registration, add/drop, and withdrawal<br />

° Enrollment in or withdrawal from art history and academic courses<br />

° Address changes<br />

° Administration <strong>of</strong> Review Boards
