What are activities • one of SC objectives is to reduce cost by eliminating all unnecessary inventory. • Inventory serves 2 useful purposes: – to protect the SC against unpredicted demands; d –To protect intermediate stages against unpredicted delays and other failures. • Increasing coordination can eliminate the necessity of inventory, e.g. JIT.
