THE STORY:
"The Third Man"
Joseph Gotten, an American writer of cheap novels, broke
but enthusiastic, comes to Vienna where he has been offered
a job by a life-long friend, Orson Welles. He arrives just
in time to attend the funeral of the latter, who is alleged
to have been killed in an automobile accident. When the
are insistent that Gotten return immediately to America, he
becomes suspicious and determines to probe into Welles'
death. He is plunged into a maze of intrigue, mystery, adven-

ture and ultimately a romance with Welles' sweetheart,
Valli, which activities uncover a surprise twist which should
be kept a secret until the picture is seen.
