pioneer Theatres had a managers meeting
at Storm Lake, Iowa, bo set up campaigns
for "Question 7." All managers of
the circuit's theatres brought one or two
clergymen from their town with them to
the meeting. Gordon McKinnon, Pioneer
district manager, was in charge of the
meeting.
Francis Boyle is the new student booker
at United Artists, replacing Andy Anderson,
who resigned. Boyle recently was released
from service . . . Ronald Reagan was
in the Twin Cities for speaking engagements
and to participate in the St. Paul
Winter Carnival . Granger and
Chester Morris were in for the legit "Advise
and Consent" at the Orpheum.
Ernie Hill has completed his assignment
for the board of directors at Northwest
Theatres and plans to leave about February
15 for Florida. He will visit Charlie
Jackson, formerly of Warner Bros., at
Clearwater and Bonnie Benfield at Stewart,
Fla. Hill will be gone until May 1.
Filmrow had a bit of excitement when a
water pipe broke in the building foiTnerly
occupied by National Screen Service, flooding
the place. Several fire tracks rushed to
the scene to get the situation under control
. . . Don Walker, Warner Bros.' midwestern
publicity director, was in for "A
Majority of One" at the World, Minneapolis,
and the Orpheum, St. Paul.
