Bachelor of Arts
(Media and Communications)
Mayuca is completing a
Bachelor of Arts (Media and
Communications) and her
dream job is to become a
publicist for a movie star. Her
favourite subjects are History
and Journalism.
For Mayuca, the best and most surprising
thing about studying at Melbourne is the
freedom she has had to learn about herself:
her likes and dislikes, what she wants out
of life.
“The highlight of my experience at
Melbourne was being able to write my
thesis on whatever I like,” Mayuca said.
During the first few months at Melbourne,
Mayuca said she settled into the new culture
very easily, thanks to the good friends she
made in college. When she completes
her degree, Mayuca plans to spend some
time with her family in Sri Lanka and then
return to Melbourne to apply for permanent
residency and a full-time job.
“I chose to write on celebrity culture – I
never thought that anyone would take me
seriously, but they did.”
