(1) A student must hold:<br />

(a) a <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n LLB degree;<br />

or<br />

(b) a foreign LLB (minimum<br />

four years)<br />

or<br />

(c) the degree <strong>of</strong> Baccalaureus<br />

Procurationis, plus one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following:<br />

(i) successful completion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

attorney’s admission<br />

examinations; or<br />

(ii) four approved LLB modules,<br />

selected from the<br />

elective modules <strong>of</strong> the LLB<br />

degree<br />

or<br />

(d) a foreign three year LLB<br />

degree plus one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following:<br />

(i) admission to the legal<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>ession in the relevant<br />

country; or<br />

(ii) four approved LLB modules,<br />

selected from the<br />

elective modules <strong>of</strong> the LLB<br />

degree<br />

or<br />

a relevant postgraduate<br />

diploma in a relevant field<br />

or<br />

(e) a foreign LLM degree<br />

(2) Students choosing a paper<br />

will be assumed to have<br />

required knowledge at an<br />

undergraduate level to enable<br />

them to embark on a study <strong>of</strong><br />

the LLM paper.<br />

(3) Before a student’s<br />

application for registration<br />

can be considered, his/her<br />

academic acceptability must<br />

be confirmed by the College<br />

Executive.<br />

(a research proposal) before<br />

registering for the short<br />

dissertation<br />

NB! Students may register for<br />

MPLLW91 at any time <strong>of</strong> the<br />

year during registration periods<br />

If a student wishes to complete<br />

his/her studies in one year<br />

(students must adhere to the<br />

registration dates) he/she<br />

must register and pass the<br />

research proposal (MPLLW91)<br />

as early as possible to be<br />

able to register for the short<br />

dissertation for that specific<br />

academic year<br />

Students will be assumed<br />

to have the required<br />

undergraduate knowledge for<br />

any course.<br />

The College Executive<br />

will confirm the academic<br />

acceptability <strong>of</strong> each student.<br />
