(a) a <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n LLB degree;<br />

or<br />

(b) a foreign LLB (minimum four<br />

years)<br />

or<br />

(c) the degree <strong>of</strong> Baccalaureus<br />

Procurationis, plus one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following:<br />

(i) successful completion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

attorney’s admission<br />

examinations; or<br />

(ii) four approved LLB modules,<br />

selected from the<br />

elective modules <strong>of</strong> the LLB<br />

degree<br />

or<br />

(d) a foreign three year LLB<br />

degree plus one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following:<br />

(i) admission to the legal<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>ession in the relevant<br />

country; or<br />

(ii) four approved LLB modules,<br />

selected from the<br />

elective modules <strong>of</strong> the LLB<br />

degree<br />

or<br />

a relevant postgraduate diploma<br />

in a relevant field<br />

or<br />

(e) a foreign LLM degree<br />

(2) Students choosing a paper<br />

will be assumed to have required<br />

knowledge at an undergraduate<br />

level to enable them to embark<br />

on a study <strong>of</strong> the LLM paper.<br />

(3) Before a student’s<br />

application for registration can<br />

be considered, his/her academic<br />

acceptability must be confirmed<br />

by the College Executive.<br />

A student must have met<br />

the outcome <strong>of</strong> MPLLW91<br />

(a research proposal) before<br />

registering the dissertation.<br />

NB! Students may register<br />

for MPLLW91 at any<br />

time <strong>of</strong> the year during<br />

registration periods. If a<br />

student wishes to complete<br />

his/her studies in one year<br />

(students must adhere to<br />

the registration dates) he/<br />

she must register and pass<br />

the research methodology<br />

module (MPLLW91) as<br />

early as possible to be<br />

able to register for the<br />

dissertation for that specific<br />

academic year. Students<br />

will be assumed to have<br />

the required undergraduate<br />

knowledge for any course.<br />

The College Executive<br />

will confirm the academic<br />

acceptability <strong>of</strong> each student.<br />

Students are advised to do<br />

MPLLW91 and a dissertation<br />

in the second year <strong>of</strong> study<br />

as the course work forms<br />

the background to the<br />

dissertation. A student must<br />

have met the outcome<br />

<strong>of</strong> MPLLW91 (a research<br />

proposal) before registering<br />

for the short dissertation.<br />

NB! Students may register<br />

for MPLLW91 at any time <strong>of</strong><br />

the year during registration<br />

periods. If a student wishes<br />

to complete his/her studies<br />

in one year (students must<br />

adhere to the registration<br />

dates) he/she must register<br />

and pass the research<br />

proposal (MPLLW91) as<br />

early as possible to be able<br />

to register for the short<br />

dissertation for that specific<br />

academic year , Students<br />

will be assumed to have<br />

the required undergraduate<br />

knowledge for any course.<br />
