(b) a foreign LLB (minimum<br />

(c) the degree <strong>of</strong> Baccalaureus<br />
Procurationis, plus one <strong>of</strong> the<br />
following:<br />
(i) successful completion <strong>of</strong> the<br />
attorney’s admission<br />
examinations; or<br />
(ii) four approved LLB modules,<br />
selected from the<br />
elective modules <strong>of</strong> the LLB<br />
degree<br />
or(d) a foreign three year LLB<br />
degree plus one <strong>of</strong> the<br />
following:<br />
(i) admission to the legal<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>ession in the relevant<br />
country; or<br />
(ii) four approved LLB modules,<br />
selected from the<br />
elective modules <strong>of</strong> the LLB<br />
degree or<br />
a relevant postgraduate diploma<br />
in a relevant field or<br />
(e) a foreign LLM degree<br />
(2) Students choosing a paper<br />
will be assumed to have<br />
required knowledge at an<br />
undergraduate level to enable<br />
them to embark on a study <strong>of</strong><br />
the LLM paper.<br />
(3) Before a student’s<br />
application for registration can<br />
be considered, his/her academic<br />
acceptability must be confirmed<br />

A student must have met<br />
the outcome <strong>of</strong> MPLLW91<br />
(a research proposal) before<br />
registering the dissertation<br />

periods. If a student wishes to<br />
complete his/her studies in one<br />
year (students must adhere<br />
to the registration dates) he/<br />
she must register and pass the<br />
research methodology module<br />
(MPLLW91) as early as<br />
possible to be able to register<br />
for the dissertation for that<br />

knowledge for any course. The<br />

A student must hold at<br />
least one <strong>of</strong> the following<br />
qualifications:<br />
(1) the LLB degree completed in<br />
accordance with the curriculum<br />
prescribed before 1998; or<br />
(2) the LLM degree.<br />
(3) Before a student’s<br />
application for registration can<br />
be considered, his/her academic<br />
acceptability must be confirmed<br />
by the College Executive.<br />
The curriculum comprises<br />
a thesis and a doctoral<br />
examination in a major<br />
subject and two subsidiary<br />
subjects, conducted at the<br />
place and time appointed by<br />
the promoter, and a thesis.<br />
Note that:<br />
(i) one <strong>of</strong> the subsidiary<br />
subjects may be a non-legal<br />
subject, provided that it is<br />
recommended by the Chair<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Department concerned<br />
with the non-legal subject<br />
and, in the opinion <strong>of</strong> the<br />
College, is closely related to<br />
the major subject and the<br />
other subsidiary subject;<br />
ii) the doctoral examination<br />
must be passed at least one<br />
year before the thesis is<br />
submitted for examination;<br />
(iii) a student who holds<br />
the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong><br />
Laws or who has passed an<br />
examination or examinations<br />
on doctoral level at a<br />
university or institution<br />
recognised by Senate<br />
for that purpose, may be<br />
exempted from the doctoral<br />
examination or a part there<strong>of</strong>;<br />
