MTI has successfully developed four core<br />
businesses in the wireless communication<br />
industry: LNB, VSAT, Radio microwave equipment,<br />
and wireless transceiver systems. To be<br />
a world class manufacturer, MTI formed a<br />
strategic alliance with Hughes Electronic Inc.<br />
to supply VSAT ODUs (out door units), cooperates<br />
with Lucent to develop a cellular<br />
base station system to penetrate the booming<br />
mobile communication market in Asia, and<br />
works with DMC (Digital Microwave Corp)<br />
to explore the market of microwave applications.<br />
In April 1997, MTI signed an agreement<br />
with FTA, Luxembourg, to provide the<br />
local distribution and after-sales service in<br />
Europe.<br />
FULL LNB PRODUCT LINE<br />
MTI now provides a full LNB product line<br />
for the European DTH market, including<br />
Universal family; Single AP8-T, Twin AP82-<br />
P, quad AP84-P and Enhance NP62 series.<br />
MTI serves the demands of their customers,<br />
never forgetting it commitment to “Best<br />
quality, reliability, performance and compact<br />
size”. Hence, new universal Twin AP82-T<br />
and quad AP84-T were introduced into the<br />
market. Not only is MTI striving to improve<br />
the performance of the current products, it<br />
also cooperates with Eutelsat to generate a<br />
DiSEqC compatible, single LNB solution that<br />
allows the reception of two <strong>satellite</strong> signals<br />
simultaneously (Astra, Eutelsat.) The innovative<br />
product, which attracted many visitors’<br />
attention at the 98 Paris antenna exhibition,<br />
is scheduled for release at the end of 1998.<br />

MTI is ISO-9001 certified, and it has strong<br />
R&D capacities. MTI knows that the LNB<br />
needs to function in almost any environment<br />
and under adverse conditions. For example,<br />
an LNB is subject to much more drastic temperature<br />
changes than most would expect.<br />
To ensure each LNB will operate well under<br />
these conditions, each LNB has to pass a<br />
temperature from -40°C to +60°C as well as<br />
a water-proof test. Because the best design<br />
and world class facilities are applied in the<br />
LNB production, MTI can keep its promise<br />
“100% temperature tested, water proof testing,<br />
and 2 years warranty”.<br />

LNB Family<br />
UNIVERSAL TWIN AP82-T, AND<br />
QUAD AP84-T LNB<br />
The development of a LNB is a continuous<br />
process of trial and error. For each new<br />
product, MTI attempts to apply the cutting<br />
edge technology to guarantee a constantly<br />
high quality level of its LNBs. In order to<br />
excel in the LNB market, innovation and<br />
constant improvement of the product design<br />
concepts are a firm principle at MTI. The<br />
new universal Twin AP82-T and quad, AP84-<br />
T were developed to keep the promise “Do<br />
our best, to be creative”.<br />
The AP82-T/AP84-T are high and low<br />
band LNBs to receive the frequency range<br />
between 10.7 to 12.75 GHz. To switch<br />
between the high and low band signal, the<br />
22kHz signal is used. In addition, the AP82-T<br />
and AP84-T accept voltages between 11.5 to<br />
14 V for vertical polarisation, and between<br />
16 to 19 V for horizontal polarisation. The<br />
cross polarisation between high and low is<br />
25dB which separates the signals perfectly.<br />
In addition, the -60dBM spurious response at<br />
1700MHz also guarantee the absolute separation<br />
of low and high band signals.<br />
As professional LNB products, AP82-T/<br />
AP84-T both provide outstanding frequency<br />
stability. In order to operate between -40°C<br />
and +60°C, the shift in frequency is around<br />
0.1MHz to 1.0MHz (at 20°C.) At +60°C or<br />
-40°C, this value still is well under 1.5 MHz.<br />
Noise figure and phase noise of AP82-T<br />
and AP84-T are also superior. Gain flatness<br />
across any 26MHz segment is less than 6dB.<br />
The noise figure is 0.9 dB for the high and<br />
the low band as well.<br />
