Winter 1941/42: typhus became rampant<br />

• bringing the total of deaths <strong>for</strong> the<br />

preceding two year 'period up to 12,000.<br />

• March 1942: 300 Jews were shot And the<br />

• rest were removed from the camp.<br />

• April 1942: 120 Dutch officers were shot.<br />

May-1942: at least 5,000 sick and<br />

crippled inmates were executed in socalled<br />

S-Kommandos.<br />

August 1942: injection experiments began<br />

• on Russians and Jews, the latter being<br />

specially imported from AUSCHWITZ.<br />

December 1943: reported to have 25,000<br />

inmates,<br />

Inmates who tried to escape once are<br />

marked as "targets" by a red rosette on a<br />

white ground.<br />

The number of initiates varies, but in 1941<br />

their allocation <strong>for</strong> work was approximately<br />

2,000 <strong>for</strong> construction of brick works<br />

1,800 <strong>for</strong> Deutsche Ausrilsiungswerke<br />

(D.A.W.)<br />

800 in various shops <strong>for</strong> tEamp necessities<br />

1,000 building SS BarracIre<br />

200 working on road construction<br />

200 building ARP shelters (punishment<br />

squads).<br />

40 at railroad station loading materials<br />

300 working at new boot factory<br />

600 working at clay quarry (mainly<br />

homosexuals expelled from the Party or<br />

SS)<br />

50 digging out unexploded bombs aroung<br />

Berlin.<br />

The rest as clerks, garage mechanics,<br />

crematorium attendants, etc.<br />

Occasionally.details of 'about • 300 men<br />

were sent to work at the Heinkel Werke<br />

aerodrome at 01 m :IMO. . These work a<br />

14-hour day, but had better treatment.<br />

The D.A.W. manufactures materials needed<br />

by the SS, such as furniture, electrical<br />

equipment eta.<br />
