REV. JAMES E. KELLY CSC has been directed<br />
to the U. <strong>of</strong> Portland to teach sociology there.<br />
MAJ. JOSEPH J. MUHLHERR and hU wife<br />
rcccntlj' returned from a three-year tour <strong>of</strong> duty<br />
in Kasscl, Germany. He %vas to enter the Command<br />
General Staff College at Fort Leaven\%-orth,<br />
Kan., in August.<br />
JOSEPH W. SIMMONS has been appointed associate<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> physics at La Salle College,<br />
Philadelphia, Pa.<br />
MICHAEL E. LONG has been named assoaate<br />
editor <strong>of</strong> The Sign, a national Catholic magazine.<br />
He was assistant managing editor <strong>of</strong> the Baltimore<br />
Catholic Review where from 1961-63 he won five<br />
first-place awards from the Delaware Press Association.<br />
He received a MA degree in journalism<br />
from Marquette in June.<br />
JOHN LYON has been awarded a Danforth<br />
Teacher Grant for the coming year to finish his<br />
doctoral work. John has been teaching history at<br />
Duquesne U. since 1960 and is now an associate<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essor there. He w-ill complete his dissertation at<br />
the U. <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh. His study is entitled "The<br />
Reaction <strong>of</strong> English Catholics to Developments in<br />
the Earth and Life Sciences, 1830-18«."<br />
MAJ. THOMAS E. SCHWIETZ has been graduated<br />
with honors from the Air Force Command<br />
and Staff College at Max^vcU .^ir Force Base, Ala.<br />
The institution prepares <strong>of</strong>ficers for higher command<br />
and staff positions.<br />
LEWIS H. BLAKEV SR-, a structural engineer<br />
in the <strong>of</strong>licc <strong>of</strong> the chief <strong>of</strong> engineers. Department<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Army, was presented the Pace Award recently<br />
by Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Army Stephen Ailcs. The<br />
award is made to an Army <strong>of</strong>ficer and a civilian<br />
who have made "outstanding contributions to the<br />
Army." Lewis directed studies <strong>of</strong> the air intake<br />
and cxliaust systems for the Nike X missile.<br />
JOHN E. KELSCH has been named manager <strong>of</strong><br />
primary accounting services in the control division<br />
<strong>of</strong> Xerox Corp. in Rocliestcr, N.Y.<br />
RAY "BUD" EMRICK has become the head<br />
basketball coach ai Clay High School .-in South<br />
Bend. He was formerly B-tcam basketball coach at<br />
South Bend's Central High.<br />
DON PENZA will be freshman football coach at<br />
the U. <strong>of</strong> Wyoming this year while doing graduate<br />
work there. He has retired as head football coach at<br />
Assumption High School, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.<br />
CAPT. THOMAS M. HAMLIN left the U.S. in<br />
July to join the 3rd Marine Division in Southeast<br />
Asia, according to a note received in the Alumni<br />

Congratulations to tlie 225 plus who attended the<br />
reunion, giving tlie Class <strong>of</strong> *53 the largest repre<br />
sentation at the gathering. The group was so outstanding<br />
that a large niunber <strong>of</strong> awards w*ere made.<br />

BEST ORGANIZER AWARD — GEORGE<br />
SHELTON, who handled the preliminary work<br />
including the postcard contacts that assured the<br />
fantastic turnout, and LEE CRE.AN, who took<br />
care <strong>of</strong> the on-the-5cene arrangements, share this<br />
one. Lee, who has four children, is about to take<br />
on an e.-cecutive position with the government's<br />
poverty program. His current address is 14062<br />
State Rd. 23, Granger, Ind. George recently moved<br />
into a new house at 1109 Forest Ave., Wilmette.<br />
Georgej; treasurer <strong>of</strong> the A. L. Jackson Co. (construction^,<br />
also has four <strong>of</strong>fspring.<br />
TOP CONDITION AWARD — DICK FRASOR,<br />
who now lives at 1806 .Ave. L. in Sterling, HI., with<br />
w-ife, Jane, and four children, still can play handball<br />
without a rest from morning until night. Dick<br />
is general foreman for Northwestern Steel & Wire<br />
Co.<br />
GRAYBEARD .AWARD — JIM O'SHEA, who<br />
hasn't got a dark hair on his head, got a stiff run<br />
this time from TOM MAGILL, who has a few (a<br />
darn few!). Jim b activ'e in both newspaper and<br />
TV (Jolly Jim Show) tvorfc in Columbia, S.C. Jim<br />
and Carmella can be reached at I4I0 Shirley St.<br />
Tom, a supervisor with Western Electric, lives at<br />

CAREER HAS .AWARD — WALT CABRAL,<br />
who has just finished a pleasant Army hitch with<br />
the ROTC unit at Tulane, is heading for Viet Nam.<br />
Capt. Walt has five children.<br />
DOME AWARD — No, this isn't for the yearbook.<br />
JOHN BE.\DEL successfully defended his<br />
title, so you know it's for the man without any<br />
hair. John, Eileen, and their four children live at<br />
8129 Richmond Ct., Wauwatosa, Wis. John received<br />

Chicago's prosperous broker (Dean Witter & Co.),<br />
won this hands down. He looks just like the yearbook<br />
photo. Rick and Fat have two boys.<br />
TO.VY G.ALE.VTO AWARD — Now, gals, get<br />
the drinking man's diet out. These were the men<br />
chosen by the Nominating Committee [not ine!) as<br />
those who had put on the most aroimd the belt.<br />
