JOHN A. O'BRIEN, research pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> theology<br />

at the <strong>University</strong>, recently spoke before the Illinois<br />

Council <strong>of</strong> Deliberation, a state-wide meeting <strong>of</strong><br />

33rd degree Masons. Fr. O'Brien presented the state<br />

head <strong>of</strong> the Masons with a pair <strong>of</strong> cuff links bearing<br />

the ND monogram.<br />

LEON F. KEVSER has received his doctorate in<br />

chcmistr>- from the California Institute <strong>of</strong> Technology<br />

at Pasadena, Calif.<br />

RAYMOND L. GAIO has been named director <strong>of</strong><br />

state and chapter affairs for the American Institute<br />

<strong>of</strong> Architects, Washington, D.C. Ray will coordinate<br />

the activities <strong>of</strong> the institute's 153 chapters<br />

and state organizations. He was national president<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Association <strong>of</strong> Student Chapters <strong>of</strong> AlA<br />

while at <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>.<br />

LT. WILLIAM J. HEAPHY has entered Air<br />

Force flight training at Reese Air Force Base, Tex.<br />

REV. A. J. KANDATHIL <strong>of</strong> St. Thomas U.,<br />

Fredericton, Ne\%* Brunswick, Canada, has begun a<br />

"Save a Family Plan" program to help ease the<br />

thousands who die <strong>of</strong> hunger each day. Fr. Kandathil,<br />

an India native who received a doctorate<br />

from ND in '60, sends donated money directly to<br />

needy families in India. Tliis program eliminates the<br />

middlemen who <strong>of</strong>ten s<strong>of</strong>ten the cfTectivencss <strong>of</strong> a<br />

larger program.<br />

ROBERT G. BECKER is associated irith the<br />

architectural firm <strong>of</strong> White and Co., Gothenburg,<br />

Sweden.<br />

EDWARD L. MEYER JR. writes that he and<br />

his wife, Joni, have embarked upon building a<br />

four-bedroom house since their family lias grown<br />
