Ncu'ark and is married^ according to RUSS BLEV.<br />
The Arabian Knight, CHARLIE MacFARLANE,<br />
is in Ncif York City and at last word was trying<br />
to compile a list <strong>of</strong> all his former employers and<br />
landlords to present to the Character and Fitness<br />
Committee there.<br />
DAVE PETRE, witli Xerox in Rochester, is also<br />
married and is reportedly working on a device to<br />
reproduce the "sun god look" for which he became<br />
famous. LARRY GALLICK is with a Buffalo firm<br />
and will soon be joined by JIM LEKIN '63.<br />
The minute criminal element that docs exist in<br />
Ohio is rapidly being diminished in size by JOE<br />
"SEND 'EM AWAY" KILLIAN, who, according to<br />
uord passed to JACK JIGANTI by CHUCK<br />
SWEENEY, has had three <strong>of</strong> his con\-ictions uvhcld<br />
on appeal.<br />
From the upper reaches <strong>of</strong> Michigan comes word<br />
that Claudettc and JERRY VARIO are the parcnU<br />
<strong>of</strong> twins, hct's hear more about that, Jerr>-!<br />
Martha and I plan to get together with Judy and<br />
STEVE MORSE in mid-June for a one-year reunion.<br />

LOU PFEILER, in Chicago for a few days while<br />
Judge JOHN F. KILKENNY '25, u-as temporarily<br />
sitting in the Northern District <strong>of</strong> Illinois, plans to<br />
Join a. Dubuque law ftrm when liis clerkship ends.<br />
He reports that the Oregon territor>' was appealing<br />
but that the lure <strong>of</strong> home was too great.<br />
RUSS BLEY will Join the legal department <strong>of</strong><br />
Monsanto Corp. in St. Louis in the fall. GENE<br />
KRAMER will join a Cleveland firm.<br />
RON FAKLER is clerking for the Hon. Roger I.<br />
McDonough <strong>of</strong> the Supreme Court <strong>of</strong> Utah. Winding<br />
up this report b the word that COMMODORE<br />
LEAHY is holding forth in a surfside apartment in<br />
Long Beach, Calif., and is keeping IiIs weight dou-n<br />
by taking weekend cruises with the Na%'al Reserve.<br />

Class <strong>of</strong> '63 <strong>of</strong>ficers report that 397 members <strong>of</strong><br />
the class have signed pledges so far for the Class<br />
Scholarship Fund. This amounts to $79,400 pledged.<br />
All members arc asked to pledge to the fund Jf they<br />
have not done so. Class members will receive additional<br />
information <strong>of</strong> the fund in the near future.<br />

BILL CLARK, who holds the ND indoor<br />
(8:52.7), fieldhouse (8:57.6) and outdoor (8:54.6)<br />
records for the two-mile run, has accepted a position<br />
with a firm in the east and intends to run in<br />
' (fte Eastern indoor meets this winter. Like many ND<br />
runners have discovered, his best times may be'yet<br />
to come.<br />
DANIEL REITER enters the Peace Corps this<br />
fall for an assignment in Tanzania, Africa, to teach<br />
high-school English. ^V'hen he ends liis Peace Corps<br />
tour he plans to do graduate work in business administration<br />
at the U. <strong>of</strong> California, Berkeley.<br />
GERALD SWIACKI has been awarded a scholarship<br />
by the American Osteopathic Association Auxiliary.<br />
He is enrolled In the Chicago College ot<br />
Osteopathy.<br />
DAVID P. NIEH.\US has completed his month<br />
<strong>of</strong> Peace Corps training at Princeton U. and is<br />
headed for Turkey where he will teach high school<br />
English.<br />
EDWARD STUEMKE has accepted a position<br />
on the faculty <strong>of</strong> Marbn High School in Mishawaka<br />
where he will organize and direct the highschool<br />
chorus, band and orchestra. He will continue<br />
his studies at the <strong>University</strong> toward a master's<br />
degree in music.<br />
JOHN J. ANTON has been awarded an educa<br />
tional grant from the State Department's Bureau <strong>of</strong><br />
Educational and Cultural Affairs for advanced study<br />
<strong>of</strong> mathematics at the Technical Institute at<br />
Karlsruhe, Germany.<br />
FRANK W. BRENNAX has been named systems<br />
engineer for Cook Electric Co.'s Data-stor division,<br />
Morton Grove, III.<br />
LT. ROBERT A. SHORT has completed a nineweek<br />
signal <strong>of</strong>ficers' course at the Army Southeastern<br />
Signal School, Fort Gordon, Ga.<br />
