1. KEY HUMANITARIAN CONSEQUENCES:<br />
Disasters such as floods and earth quakes have mainly two dimensions i.e. physical and<br />
social. Physical impact includes damage of property and casualties including loss of lives<br />
and injuries. Physical impacts are noticeable and can be measured and reported in the<br />
form damage need assessment done by government authorities or humanitarian<br />
agencies. Social impact on other hand such as social, economic, demographic and<br />
political impact can develop over a long period of time and can be difficult to measure.<br />
Some of the impact in case of disaster can be,<br />
Destruction of civic facilities such as health, schools, water system, roads, bridges<br />
and communication infrastructure.<br />
Displacement of population ;<br />
Loss of lives, high number of injured and psychosocial impact on survivors;<br />
Number of Vulnerable groups will be Increased (children, women, older people,<br />
Guests who do not know local language/ knowledge, disabled and mentally ill)<br />
Outbreak of communicable diseases;<br />
Increased risk of epidemics, including diarrheal diseases, malaria, cholera and<br />
measles;<br />
Disruption of education services and reduced access to basic social services;<br />
