(above right and right) Austin Gathering. aAs the new School year began last September, the Executive Committee of the Alumni Board sat down to focus on the coming year. Their objective was clear, to support the mission of the School by building the best Alumni Association in the nation, as demonstrated by engagement and giving. Their goal was bold, and to execute their plan, the Alumni Board, partnered with the Office of Development & Alumni Relations, will target four specific areas: (1) the continued growth of the Alumni Weekend and Reunion Programs, (2) events that allow alumni, of all ages, to connect with fellow Marksmen, the faculty, and the School, (3) to maintain more than 50 percent Alumni giving in the St. Mark’s Fund, and (4) to strategically grow the Alumni Network. Each year, these goals are met with an extraordinarily responsive and supportive Alumni Community. Marksmen young and old continue to engage with the School and spend their time and resources to ensure a viable Alumni Association that strengthens the School. 22 Alumni News | THE PRIDE St. Mark’s School of Texas
Alumni News Regional Events Around the Nation As the Alumni Association grows, the Alumni Office has seen the need for a boost in faculty travel. With this in mind, the Office took to the road to visit Alumni in 11 different cities with a handful of faculty riding shotgun. In September, St. Mark’s hosted events in Austin, Houston, and on the campus of Rice University, where David Brown, Victor F. White Master Teaching Chair in English, and Scott Gonzalez, Provost and Dean of the Campus, were traveling faculty guests. In October, (top row and above left) Washington, D.C. Alumni Gathering.
