continue to participate in a grant that involves fifteen
towns served by the Manchester District Office
administered through the Manchester Area
Conference of Churches.
Other services provided by the Division include
short term/crisis counseling, family meetings, service
coordination, outreach home visits, information
and referral services, and benefits counseling.
Moderate Price Housing Program qualifications,
Community Restitution Program, Conservator
Program, etc.
Adult and Senior Services Division—
The Adult and Senior Services Division provides
programming, social services, case management
and service delivery coordination for South Windsor
adults and older adults to respond to their economic,
recreational, social and emotional needs. This
service allows for improved assessment, service
provision, the avoidance of service duplication, and
premature institutionalization. Agencies with whom
we work closely include local businesses, Visiting
Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut, Inc.,
Police, Courts, Adult Day Care, Assisted Living
Facilities, Local Housing Authority, Community
Renewal Team of Greater Hartford, area Towns and
hospitals; mental health groups, state agencies,
local civic and religious groups, etc.
In compliance with both the Town Drugs Free
Workplace and the Federal Drug Free Workplace
Mandate the Department coordinated random drug
testing (administrated by Greater Hartford Transit)
for all employees who serve the Transportation system.
In addition, Senior Services administers the
Drug & Alcohol Testing Program for the Department
of Public Works employees.
The Director of Adult & Senior Services continues to
serve as South Windsor’s state mandated Municipal
Agent for the Elderly.
Senior Center—
The North Central Area Agency on Aging has designated
the multi-purpose Senior Center as a Focal
The Division administers several programs that benefit
the total Human Services client population.
These include the private Food & Fuel Bank and
Special Needs Fund, the processing of Fuel
Applications for the State Fuel Program, Operation
Fuel Program, United Way Shelter Grant, Home
Management (funded by the State Department of
Social Services), Salvation Army Funds, Holiday
Basket Programs which includes gifts in December.
The Division refers General Assistance eligible
clients to the appropriate state, private and nonprofit
agencies. To further serve this population we
