for <strong>Sanderling</strong>s will benefit other species. In some areas, the <strong>Sanderling</strong> is a key ‘umbrella’<br />
species, such as along the Pacific coast of South America where it is the most common coastal<br />
shorebird species from Peru to Chile. Conservation of the <strong>Sanderling</strong> would benefit waterbirds<br />
and other coastal species along the entire southern part of its wintering range.<br />
