The Architecture & Building division designs buildings for processes, such as those found in industry and power plants,
buildings for people, such as offices, hotels, shopping centres, schools, nursing homes and hospitals. The division also
specialises in civil engineering structures such as bridges.
The division achieved a turnover of more than 1 11 million in 2006 thereby exceeding its target (1 10 million). Further growth
is aimed for in 2007, with a turnover target of almost 1 13 million.
A wide range of design projects were once again dealt with in 2006. We worked on new offices and educational
establishments, churches, bridges and storage facilities for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). There were also commissions for
the integrated development of power stations and for the first hospital in the Netherlands developed by a single party.
The activities of the division also grew outside the Netherlands. We are sharing the Royal Haskoning office in Dubai in
the United Arab Emirates with our subsidiary company, Design 103, the largest architectural consultancy in Thailand. The
division is aiming to acquire more high quality architectural commissions in this very dynamic market with ambitious
projects. In Russia, the division is participating in Royal Haskoning’s Moscow office, which is clearly expanding. The division
is also working on a project basis on commissions in the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe.
The prospects in both the domestic markets and abroad are good for 2007. However, we expect an increasing shortage
of civil engineers in the labour market. In anticipation of this, the division will concentrate even more on international
collaboration and on optimising its business processes.
