Aim: Maximise tuart conservation/management on all l<strong>and</strong> categories<br />
1. ‘No-net-loss’ of tuart woodl<strong>and</strong>s over tuart’s natural range<br />
2. Area of tuart woodl<strong>and</strong>’s structural ecosystem types (i) conserved in formal<br />
conservation reserves increases, <strong>and</strong>/or (ii) protected by special management<br />
agreements, increases by 50 per cent<br />
3. A network of effective habitat/wildlife corridors is in place<br />
4. The rate of tuart re-establishment exceeds the rate of tuart clearing.<br />
5. Appropriate conservation <strong>and</strong> management of tuart woodl<strong>and</strong>s is identified<br />
as a high priority in all statutory, strategic <strong>and</strong> local l<strong>and</strong> development plans.<br />
AIM: Maintain or improve biodiversity <strong>and</strong> ecological functioning of tuart<br />
woodl<strong>and</strong>s<br />
6. At least 50 per cent of tuart woodl<strong>and</strong> remnants show maintenance <strong>and</strong>/or<br />
improvement in condition<br />
7. Designated biodiversity elements of tuart woodl<strong>and</strong>s are identified,<br />
conserved <strong>and</strong>/or protected.<br />
AIM: Manage weeds <strong>and</strong> pests in tuart woodl<strong>and</strong>s<br />
8. Designated weed <strong>and</strong> pest species have been reduced .<br />
AIM: Integrate the protection <strong>and</strong> sustainable management of tuart<br />
occurrences off-reserves.<br />
9. Guidelines for tuart protection <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong> management are introduced<br />
10. The number of private properties actively engaged in tuart conservation<br />
increases annually<br />
11. The number of agricultural enterprises operating with an integrated tuart<br />
conservation <strong>and</strong> commercial property plan is increased<br />
12. 3,000 hectares of former tuart woodl<strong>and</strong>s is re-established<br />
13. A policing capacity for tuart conservation <strong>and</strong> management is established<br />
14. Controls under the new ‘Biodiversity <strong>Conservation</strong> Act’ are implemented<br />
15. Local governments have mapped/recorded tuart’s in grassed parks<br />
16. Urban local governments have an active program conserving tuart<br />
trees in grassed parks, favouring natural regeneration.<br />
