EXISTING INITIATIVES AND ACTIONS<br />
OUTCOME 4: PARTNERSHIPS<br />
Partnerships will be built or consolidated within <strong>and</strong> between community groups with differing<br />
interests in tuart trees <strong>and</strong> tuart ecosystems.<br />
• Conducted the <strong>Tuart</strong> Science Workshop to consider priority areas for tuart health research.<br />
Involved Government agencies, research institutions, local government, companies <strong>and</strong><br />
community groups. Summarised research findings in the Status Report for <strong>Tuart</strong> <strong>Conservation</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> Protection.<br />
• Obtained external funding for tuart projects.<br />
• Conducted tuart education workshops on hydrogeology, tuart vegetation ecosystems <strong>and</strong><br />
communities, tuart decline, climate variability, tuart research framework, tuart in the l<strong>and</strong>scape <strong>and</strong><br />
planning for public involvement.<br />
OUTCOME 5: DEVELOPMENT PLANS<br />
All plans <strong>and</strong> processes for developing l<strong>and</strong> within tuart’s natural range will take account of the<br />
need to conserve tuart <strong>and</strong> its ecosystems.<br />
• Briefed statutory authorities, local governments <strong>and</strong> Natural Resource <strong>Management</strong> groups on the<br />
need to consider tuart conservation <strong>and</strong> management in strategic plans <strong>and</strong> town <strong>and</strong> district town<br />
planning schemes.<br />
OUTCOME 6: INCENTIVES<br />
Institutional arrangements will provide incentives <strong>and</strong> support to l<strong>and</strong> owners <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong><br />
managers for the conservation <strong>and</strong> management of tuart trees <strong>and</strong> its ecosystems.<br />
• Considered tuart protection incentive options for inclusion in the draft <strong>Tuart</strong> <strong>Conservation</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Management</strong> <strong>Strategy</strong> at the stakeholder <strong>and</strong> community workshops.<br />
