Small but with great responsibility
SLK 3, the modified luminaire terminal strip from TridonicAtco connection technology, offers added value
with its sophisticated plug technology. Now flexible conductors can be used, and not just rigid ones – and
all without any additional outlay.
For reasons of convenience, the plug-in option rather than the screw
option is preferred for luminaire terminal strips, but restricted to rigid
conductors or to flexible conductors with ready-made cable ends
(soldered for example or with end sleeves).

As the interface between the luminaire and the electrician, these
inconspicuous low-cost components bear great responsibility. The
terminals have to enable the conductors to be easily connected
and released and ensure reliable mechanical functionality with low
and stable contact resistance.
The SLK 3 luminaire terminal strip from TridonicAtco connection
technology can now do more than this. On the installation side, flexible
conductors with cross-sections of 1.5 mm 2 and 2.5 mm 2 can be used
without first being prepared. The quality of the connection has been
verified in extensive tests in which not only the integrity grip is checked
but also the long-term electrical function of the contact element.
This has been confirmed by the approval of the SLK 3 terminals
by the VDE Testing and Certification Institute.
The SLK 3 luminaire terminal strip is also a good problem solver. In
many cases the end sleeves enlarged the cross-section of flexible
2.5 mm 2 cables so much that they could not be inserted in the terminals.
If the SLK 3 terminal is used there is no need for such preparation and
therefore no risk of enlargement.
The SLK 3 luminaire terminal strip and the connection expertise of
TridonicAtco connection technology are in great demand wherever
“flexibility” is required – in mobile luminaires with connecting cables
and plugs and for wiring downlights in suspended ceilings.
