Introduction
Successful Product Selection and
Fitting – a Well Thought-Out Plan!
Otto Bock and its partners makes it their mission and task to increase the quality
of life for people with disabilities through up-to-date, innovative and high-quality
prosthetic devices. In order to meet all the fitting demands for amputations of
the lower extremities, we offer a time-proven, comprehensive delivery and performance
program. The many different models of prosthesis feet, adapters, liners,
knee and hip joints as well as prosthesis accessories allow finding the best
possible individual solution for every user and every prosthetic fitting.
This catalog features a wealth of improvements, optimized fitting solutions and
new products. The catalog has 11 chapters, three of which constitute the main
chapters: Leg Prostheses for Children, Modular Leg Prostheses, and Exoskeletal
Leg Prostheses. The table of contents (see page 1) shows at one glance where
products can be found.
The easy and proper selection of the prosthesis components – fundamental prerequisite
for a successful fitting – is made possible with the MOBIS® Mobility System.
With the help of the MOBIS® symbols, orthopedic technicians can recognize
for what mobility grade and for what patient weight the modular components are
recommended. The MOBIS® System Overview (see pages 46f.) lists all functional
and structural parts. Further details are then indicated in the subsequent sections,
where they are featured in the order from distal to proximal. In addition, the
combination overviews “Component Combinations: Knee-Foot” (see pages 48f.)
as well as “Foam Covers: Combination Overview” (see page 234) facilitate the
proper composition of the individual components. The simplification of the daily
fitting practice is also achieved with our newly introduced “system height” measuring
unit. This measure assists orthopedic technicians with the task of filling the
available space between socket and ground with prosthesis components such
that the length deviation between residual extremity and prosthesis leg is as small
as possible. (For more information, please see the following pages.)
To make ordering as easy as possible, our new prosthetics catalog “Lower Extremity
2006” contains useful tips about the ordering procedure and order codes
as well as order and measurement forms.
