Users in Mobility Grade 3 place diverse demands on a prosthetic foot. They generally
move with a walking speed of 1.3 to 1.5 m/s. Their walking duration and
distance as well as step length differ only minimally from those of non-amputees.
Mobility Grade 3 users may have an increased demand for safety depending on
specific life circumstances or additional disabilities.
This group of prosthesis users undertake normal everyday activities, including career
and recreational activities, which subject the prosthesis to medium to high
stress but low impact loads. Due to their gait characteristic and nearly unrestricted
mobility, these users require a prosthetic foot that provides an easy rollover,
good energy efficiency and the ability to adapt to uneven ground.

Feet for Mobility Grade 4
Users in Mobility Grade 4 place special demands on their prosthetic fitting. They
typically move at walking speeds of over 1.5 m/s and vary the speed often. Walking
duration and distance are not restricted. Their step length corresponds to
those of non-amputees.
This group of prosthesis users pursues recreational, professional or sporting that
subject the prosthesis to high impact, including jolts and shocks. This may include
professions that involve increased physical exertion or sports such as soccer, tennis
or basketball. Due to their unrestricted mobility, this user group requires a prosthetic
foot that offers them an easy rollover, good forefoot support, excellent energy
efficiency and the ability to adapt to uneven ground.
