You can install the following components with Tivoli Storage Manager Version 6.2 or later: v Tivoli Storage Manager backup-archive client v Tivoli Storage Manager administrative client v Tivoli Storage Manager backup-archive Java Graphical User Interface (Java GUI) v Tivoli Storage Manager Web backup-archive client v Tivoli Storage Manager API (32-bit and 64-bit) System requirements for Windows clients The Tivoli Storage Manager Windows client requires a minimum amount of disk space for installation and a supported operating system. Disk space requirements | | | | The following disk space is required to install the Windows client: v 2.3 GB of free disk space is required to install the 32-bit Windows client, and all language packs. v 2.9 GB of free disk space is required to install the 64-bit Windows client, and all language packs. If you select a custom installation, the online installation instructions display how much space is required for the selected installation options, however, that number might not be accurate. The online installation instructions also displays (correctly) how much space is available on the hard disk. The Java client GUI (graphical user interface) and web GUI require a minimum screen resolution of 600 by 800 pixels. Thus the client does not provide support for the new features of Windows Server 2003 R2. For GPFS support (Windows Server 2008 64-bit only), you must also install GPFS version 3. Windows client communication methods The TCP/IP and shared memory communication methods are available for the Windows backup-archive client. You can use the following communication methods with the Tivoli Storage Manager Version 6.2, or later, Windows client: Table 6. The following table shows the supported and unsupported features on the various Windows platforms. Note: 1. LVSA is not signed, therefore the LVSA driver is included with the Tivoli Storage Manager Client package, but it is not installed by default. If your organization does not permit using unsigned drivers, you can use VSS. 2. ASR from WinPE environment is not supported on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI).
