Ecology
Field activities will include plant and animal
identification, landscape interpretation,
habitat analysis, stream quality assessment,
mammal tracking, bird banding, fish capture,
aquatic insect analysis, night-time insect
trapping, and more. You’ll do background
research and work up your field samples in
our biology labs. Analyze your data in our
computer labs and learn how GIS and other
computer applications help in ecology and
conservation biology.

Forensic Science
Experience the real CSI! You will learn how
to collect evidence and conduct forensic
laboratory analyses. Investigate a variety of
mock crime scenes. You will also demonstrate
different crime-solving strategies

Health Care Explorations
Explore nursing, exercise science, athletic
training, physical therapy, and paramedic
technology at LSSU in our hands-on learning
laboratories and at our local hospital. A great
opportunity for those who are interested in
careers in this growing field.

Video Game Design
Participants will design and tweak graphics
and games. They will take home their
completed projects, as well as codes for
several demonstration games developed at
Lake Superior State University on CD.

Biomedical Science
Labs will include dissections in the anatomy
lab, experiments in the physiology lab, and
DNA extraction in the genetics lab. Excellent

training in vehicle extrication, search and

Automotive Design Camp
Do you have a talent for drawing and a passion
for styling cars? In this camp, you’ll learn about
the design and development of concept cars,
create ideation sketches, and experiment with
scale modeling. Scholarships can be awarded
to top student designers.

Autonomous Robotics Camp
Assemble Lawrence Tech’s laptop robot,
L2Bot, complete with a webcam. You’ll explore
introductory concepts in autonomous robotics
navigation, image processing, computer vision,
and voice recognition while learning the basics
of object-orientated Java programming. Some
knowledge of a programming language is helpful,
but not required. After the camp, you’ll be able to
participate in the Collegiate Robofest Mini Urban
Challenge in December 2009 and spring 2010.

Biotechnology Camp
In a research lab setting, you’ll genetically
engineer bacteria, purify and quantify
proteins, and learn how to clone genes.
You’ll apply modern DNA profiling
techniques to solve crimes and use hitech
tools to diagnose diseases and track
infectious outbreaks. Your days will be filled
with hands-on experimentation with just
enough theory and background to make the
experience meaningful.
